Bag from ecycled jeans

A bag from recycled jeans

I mentioned in my last post that I have been very keen on trying a bag from old jeans outfits. The idea behind is to recycle the jeans fabric.

I found my daughter's dungarees of 3T size which she no longer is wearing.I have cut the top part & joined the bottom parts retaining the frills which has given the bag its look.

I have used the belts of the dungarees to make the handles using some extra jeans fabric.

Just to add some element of interest to the old fabric attached the colourful lace.

However could not put zipper or Velcro for the closure as I am afraid my light duty machine might breakdown.

Here is the picture of that cute little bag.

YET ANOTHER BAG

Yet another bag

I know I have been posting more about making bags of late.Making bags has become kind of irresistible for me.
A few days back I saw my neighbour Shruti carrying a very beautiful handbag made out of recycled jean pants.
It caught my attention and I could not wait to try one.
However I was hesitant to stitch a bag of jean material in the first try.So was constantly thinking what material to use to try out. Then I remembered the top part of a trouser used to make a tote bag is still unused.

I took the unused part of trousers n started. It did not take more than 30 minutes to finish it off.
This time I put a magnetic snap instead of using a zipper.

Here comes the twin of my first tote bag embellished with flip-flop patch work.
This is not only a best out of waste project but also a good example of reusing old trousers or reusing old pants.

A tote for files

A tote for files

Just like last year my journey of at least one project a month continues in 2016 too! I know I am yet to update the projects for some months in 2015.
This tote bag is stitched to fit files or to carry the documents. Hence this odd shape.
This is stitched for a friend of mine who wanted to make use of the blouse piece that she no longer wanted to stitch into a blouse.
Here are more pictures of the tote - my project for January 2016!
